Ferry Multi-Ride Punch Card Credit Exchange Date
Thursday, November 7, 2024
In November, the Whatcom County Ferry Division will hold a regular monthly punch card sale and a multi-ride punch card value exchange opportunity. Please read the following for details of each:
Monthly Punch Card Sale
The next monthly punch card sale is Wednesday, November 6, from 5:20 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. at the ferry office at the island-side ferry terminal. All types of ferry punch cards will be sold, including those for current needs-based customers. Payments may be made by check, valid US money order, or credit card. No cash is accepted.
Note: This is a regular monthly punch card sale—no credit value exchanges for punch cards will occur on November 6.
Please do not visit the Civic Center office in Bellingham for punch cards, as they are not sold in person at the administrative offices. Visit our website to learn more about purchasing multi-ride punch cards.
Punch Card Value Exchange Event
The next opportunity to value exchange ferry multi-ride punch cards is Thursday, November 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Garden Level Conference Room in downtown Bellingham (Civic Center Building, 322 N. Commercial Street). If you have cards purchased at the immediately previous rate (expired May 31, 2024), this is your chance to apply their value towards buying a new multi-ride card. At this time, we are only able to offer in-person exchange opportunities. We appreciate your understanding of our service limitations.
Pending Impacts on Rates & Punch Cards
The County is undergoing its biennial budget process, which includes a review of the ferry’s Unified Fee Schedule. The Executive’s Office is evaluating options for fare adjustments and punch card use to ensure the sustainability of fare box revenues and maintain the level and quality of this vital ferry service. When planning your purchases, please consider that punch cards are currently valid for 30 days after a rate change. If passed by the County Council, a rate change would likely be effective January 1, 2025. In addition, future limits to punch card availability may not result in value exchange opportunities.
For more information on ferry punch cards, please contact the Ferry Division at [email protected]. As a reminder, if you wish to speak to ferry administration in person, you must make an appointment first. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated.
