Cost of Records

Fees (as per Whatcom County's Unified Fee Schedule):

  • No fee for inspecting public records.
  • Black and white copies  - $.15 per page. 
  • Scanned copies - $.10 per page.
  • Mailing fee- actual cost of postage and shipping container.
  • Other media - actual cost of reproduction.
  • BODY WORN CAMERA FOOTAGE:
    Video Redaction Fees
    Audio and visual redactions applied to Body Worn Camera videos are charged at the rate of $.74 per minute. Any request for law enforcement records is subject to redactions outlined in RCW 42.56.

Payments are taken by 

  • Cash
  • Check
  • Credit/Debit card (a 2.35% processing fee or a $2.00 minimum will be added for credit/debit cards)

For large requests, the Sheriff's Office may

  • Require a deposit of up to 10% of the estimated cost before making copies
  • Provide copies in installments
  • Require advance payment before providing further installments
