Ben Elenbaas is currently serving his second term on the Whatcom County Council, representing Council District 5. His current term began January 2024 and expires January 2028.
In 2024, Councilmember Elenbaas is chair of the Planning and Development Committee. He also represents the County Council on several community boards and committees, including the Whatcom County Ferry Advisory Committee, Flood Control Zone District Advisory Committee, Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), and Public Defense Advisory Committee.
