N. Lake Samish Bridge Project Update: Upcoming Watercraft Impacts

Construction of the new N. Lake Samish Bridge will continue through August 2025. This summer's work includes installing the temporary work access trestle, demolishing the existing bridge, and working on the two in-water drilled shafts for the new bridge. These activities will impact watercraft traffic at the bridge.

In July, watercraft traffic will be allowed under the bridge during the construction of the temporary work trestle. However, users should expect intermittent delays of up to 15 minutes. When bridge demolition work begins in August, watercraft will be prohibited under the bridge, likely lasting through the rest of the summer.

We are implementing a red light/green light system on our project webpage to help you with your activity planning. When you see the green stop light and message, it means that watercraft traffic under the bridge is open. Conversely, when you see the red stop light and message, it indicates that traffic under the bridge is prohibited. A sign will also be posted at the public boat launch on Lake Samish, and warning buoys will be placed around the bridge when traffic is closed. For your safety and the safety of others, it's crucial to adhere to these warning signs and not attempt to cross under the bridge when it is closed.

As the bridge replacement project progresses, please check the website for the latest updates on watercraft traffic and other important information.
