The County Charter is reviewed every 10 years by a Charter Review Commission. You can learn more about charter review in Article 8 of the Whatcom County Charter.
In 2024, registered voters will vote for three candidates in each of the five Council districts for a total of a 15-member Charter Review Commission.
Registered voters who want to represent their district on the Charter Review Commission will file a Declaration of Candidacy the week of filing week, May 6 – 10. You can find more information about the filing process on the Candidate Resources page and in the Candidate Filing Guide.
Charter Review Commission candidates move to the 2024 November General ballot. The term of the office is 1 year.
