Naloxone Distribution Boxes

The Whatcom County Naloxone Dispenser Box Program provides free, 24/7 access to naloxone (Narcan) at select locations throughout the county. This initiative aims to make lifesaving overdose-reversal medication available to those who need it, especially individuals who may face barriers to obtaining it elsewhere.

What is Naloxone?

Naloxone is a medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Naloxone is safe to use, even if administered to someone who is not experiencing an opioid overdose.

You may often see naloxone referred to as Narcan. Narcan is a naloxone brand.

Who Can Access the Boxes?

Anyone can access our naloxone distribution boxes, but we encourage you to buy kits if you can or use a free online ordering option. This service is primarily for individuals who have no other way to access naloxone or who seek privacy and discretion when obtaining the medication.
