Burn Permit
Fill out Burn Permit Application and email to [email protected]. Fees will be invoiced once the permit has been processed.
Fireworks
Please complete the appropriate application as indicated below and email all materials to [email protected].
Fireworks Stand
To obtain a permit to operate a fireworks stand in unincorporated Whatcom County you need to submit a completed Fire System Construction Application along with the following:
- Washington State Fireworks License
- Insurance certificate
- A site plan showing the location of the stand in relation to other buildings and parking on the property
Professional Fireworks Display
To conduct a professional fireworks display in unincorporated Whatcom County, submit a completed Fire System Construction Application along with the following:
- Washington State Fireworks License
- Insurance certificate
- A site plan showing the location of the launch area in relation to other buildings, viewing areas, and parking on the property
Fire System Construction Permit
The Fire Marshal’s Office issues several different construction permits for fire related systems. To apply for a Fire System Construction Permit you need to fill out the application form and submit all required documentation for review to [email protected]. Fees will be invoiced once the permit has been processed.
Per the International Fire Code, Chapter 1, Section 105.7, Construction Permits include work for:
| Automatic fire-extinguisher systems | Gas detection systems |
| Battery systems | Gate and barricades across fire apparatus access roads |
| Compressed gases | Hazardous materials |
| Cryogenic fluids | High piled combustible storage |
| Emergency responder radio coverage systems | Industrial ovens |
| Fire alarm and detection systems | LP gas |
| Fire pumps and related equipment | Motor vehicle repair rooms and booths |
| Fireworks stands and fireworks shows | Plant extraction systems |
| Flammable and combustible liquids | Private fire hydrants |
| Fuel cell power systems | Smoke control or smoke exhaust systems |
In addition to the completed application, the following permits require the listed additional materials:
- Plans stamped by a Washington Licensed Sprinkler designer
- Cut sheets
- Hydraulic calculations
- Plans showing the underground lines (including FDC lines)
- Contractor’s Underground certificate
- Plans showing all devices and panels
- Specifications on devices and panels
- Battery calculations
- Drawings showing appliances and nozzle array
- Specifications on suppression system
- Drawings showing layout of pump, lines, and hydrant
- Specifications for the pump system
- Hydraulic calculations for system
- Site plan that show tank location and any structures
- Tank removal contractor’s license
- Site plan showing gate location along driveway
- Gate specifications showing width, height, and any access controls
- Cut sheets for gate controls and emergency vehicle access device (Opticom™, key box with switch inside, direct key switch, etc.)
