Truck Road Reopens After Bank Stabilization Project

Truck Road has reopened to all traffic between Deal Road and Mosquito Lake Road in Whatcom County. Completing the Truck Road Bank Stabilization Project will help protect Truck Road from further erosion by the Nooksack River. As the project wraps, we thank contractor Trimaxx Construction for working diligently to have the road open ahead of schedule.

Project Background

In 2020, Whatcom County received Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance funding to repair a section of Truck Road that was damaged during the Superbowl 2020 flood. The November 2021 flooding exacerbated erosion at this site, and an emergency project was constructed. However, a second phase of work was planned to make the remaining repairs to the road, including realignment and adding the required environmental mitigation. This work was eligible for funding through the FEMA Public Assistance program.
