Celebrate ‘National Public Works Week’ in Whatcom County May 19-25

Whatcom County Public Works (WCPW) joins the nationwide celebration of National Public Works Week, May 19-25, 2024. This annual awareness campaign recognizes those working in professions that provide and maintain the vital infrastructure and services collectively known as ‘public works.’ In Whatcom County, the Public Works department provides the community with traffic engineering and maintenance, stormwater management, road/bridge construction and maintenance, ferry service, natural resources management such as water quality and noxious weeds, and flood control.

The theme of National Public Works Week 2024 is "Advancing Quality of Life for All.” This year’s poster illustrates how public works professionals contribute to and enhance the quality of life in the communities they proudly serve. As part of the week’s recognition, Whatcom County Executive Satpal Sidhu signed a proclamation declaring May 19-25, 2024, as ‘National Public Works Week’ in Whatcom County.
